New to the world of good food.

Well hello all. My name is Tyler and I am new to this site. I love Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern so I thought why not join his website. Well I live here in Bend Oregon andI am dying to break out of this routine when it comes to what I eat. I am so tired of tex-mex food and fast food joints. I want to enjoy the smell of fresh ingredients and be proud of whats on my plate. I just lose myself watching the food and travel channel and I just wish that I was right there along Andrew traveling the world and eating all the things he eats. I want to get recipes from all you and suggestions on what I should try and where I can find it. Also I am going on a trip to San Francisco this May and I am wanting to know where I should go to get some bizarre food. I would really love to try like duck or goose intestines but where do I find these? Well everyone I hope to meet some very cool people on this site and maybe I will even be able to talk to Andrew some day?

great food

When i was in the army, I tried a lot of foods that people call strange or sick. All I can say is don't knock it untill you try it.

Popped grain

I heard that you had a show where you ate a food similar to popcorn that was high in protien. I would like to try it. What and how was the food cooked. Thanks

duck intestines

this is for Tyler. The best way to find what you are looking for is to just go out and get a duck yourself and clean it, saving the intrails washing them out well then boil them. next...well, i like to fry beef insides in bacon fat...just experiment man and have fun!!  P.S.  "all things that creepeth upon the face of the earth is good for meat"

Frankly I have a good taste

Frankly I have a good taste for most of the cuisines food in San Francisco and the San Francisco food delivery is awesome as well. You kinda get used to eating all over the place and develop a taste of sorts.

Go For The Gold!

That's awesome your willing to break out of your comfort zone. I am also a fanatic of Andrews bizzare food paths.  I have always liked venturing towards trying new and not the norm you would see on your plate. I don't know about locating the duck intestines- hope when you do aquire them it's a good experience enjoy!

Good for You!

Getting out of your food comfort zone is a hard thing for lots of people, so good for you! Instead of going out all of the time trying cooking a lot more for yourself.  You can do all the experimenting you want then and learn tons about food.  California is a great place to try some new things.  Don't be overly disappointed if you can't eat like Andrew though Laughing at least not right away.  Good luck!
