Ingredients

  • 1 pk 1 small package pickling spice in cheesecloth
  • 2 ct 2-3 dozen eggs (older ones peel easier)
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1 q vinegar
  • 1 cn plain sliced beets

Instructions

Place vinegar, sugar, & pickling spice in a saucepan & heat to boiling. Stir occasionally. Place beets & eggs in a one gallon jar. When mixture reaches a boil remove from heat & add to eggs & beets. Cover & refrigerate for several days. Great with a dash of salt!!!

Notes

Grandma used cans of pickled beets, but Mom made fresh pickle juice. The flavor is much more intense.
