Go to Turkey

I'm in highschool and we have several people from turkey attending and teaching at my school. Once on a trip one of the turkish teachers took us to a turkish resteraunt; and the food was amazing however because it was so diffrent it kind of made everyones stomach turn a little upside down. But I know for a fact that you could handle it. But the wierdest turkish desert i had was this little green block which contained almonds. It looked pretty pleasing but it was as if you had just put sand in your mouth. ICKK lol You should look into visiting

Montana

How about some elk, bear and trout (it's such a clean fish i'm sure you could even find something raw to eat as soon as it come out of these clear moutain streams).

I Think You Should Travel to the Country of Laos!

Hi Andrew, I think you should travel to the country of Laos in Southeast Asia. My father is from Laos and I think it would be interesting to see the different dishes and foods from Laos. Not too many people know where Laos is located and what kind of dishes/diets are of the people of Laos. Some dishes are very similar to the foods found in Northeast Thailand such as spicy papaya salad, beef jerky, and beef salad; There are other exoatic dishes such as red blood duck salad, frog soup, and padak (frementiated fish, ingredient that is used in a lot of lao dishes). The people of Laos are also known for their famous sweet sticky rice. I have never been to Laos. I have only seen it on a home video taken by my relatives and my father.  I think this is a country that needs to be explore in terms of it's people, culture, and of course food!

Surstromming?

Hi Andrew, I was watching a show on tv tonight where the presenter brought out a tin of surstromming (fermented herring from Sweden). Have you eaten this on the show?I honestly don't know how you eat half the things you do...cast iron stomach? The only NZ food I can think that might be weird (not for you I bet) would be mountain oysters (sheeps balls) or a Maori dish of rotten corn.Cheers from New Zealand. Nicki.

Sicily

you really can'i immagine how many bizarre dishes we use to eat in Sicily!!! If you want to try the best seafood and white wines in the world...please Andrew!come to visit us!!!!

APO

Andrew, people always called me crazy trying foods others wouldn’t dare to until your show became popular on TV, I love it. I think you should take a trip to Iraq and try some of the mess hall bizarre foods where you will also get to hang out with the best mean and woman of this country.

the Ozarks

Hello Andrew - love your show, my husband, Floyd, and I watch it all the time - getting ready to watch an episode of Bizarre World right now in fact - anyway - we'd love to see a show in the Ozarks - after all the Beverly Hillbillies came from the Ozarks, albeit Arkansas, and anyone who has watched them knows how bizarre the foods can be - and if you do come into this area we'd love to invite you to dinner - be it squirrel, bbq raccoon, deer tongues and of course desert would be homemade mincemeat that we made utilizing the heads from deer this last season. Would have to plan ahead for next season for the venison tongues or heart, yum! - but certainly we could come up with a few dishes that most folks would find bizarre. So just remember......if it looks good......

BF show idea

Love your show! You Rock! how about trying chitterlings...(pork intestines) cooked various ways. Think this may be a southern dish. Would love to hear you describe the dish and its taste!!!!

A good time in Honduras

If you would like a good idea, how about going to Honduras and being served iguana in coconut soup. The main food would be iguana with all kinds of veggies served with plantains and rice. And try fresh fruit juices like pineapple, coconut, sugarcane juice, papaya etc. You will enjoy eating and drinking by the beach while the locals are walking by and selling homemade coconut bread, coconut candy, fresh fruits and veggies. All of these things would be surrounded by fresh fruit trees like mango, banana, guayabas, and sugarcane fields.

Canadian Aboriginal Foods

Hi Andrew... LOVE your show. Can't get enough of it. Being Métis of French Canadian and Algonquin descendants, I would really love to see a segment on Canadian Aboriginal foods i.e. Moose, Carribou or perhaps even a Beaver in addition to wild edible plants. I'm sure that this would add pizzaz to your show. What do you think? Cheers and keep up the great work!!!! Algonkin

Machitos-Brownsville-US-Mexico Border

I have seen many of your show and near the holidays we usually cook some traditional dishes that are now a delicacy to us. Many people have a misuderstanding of machitos and sometime they refer to this as tripa. Well while I was cooking these machitos one of guys from the group asked I wonder if Anthony has ever eaten this many people will consider this a bizzare food. Therefore we would like to see if you have ever had a machito which consist of the internal parts of teh goat like the heart, liver, kidneys, lungs cut into small pieces and then wrapped tightly by a piece of tripa. Then this is traditionally slow cooked on the grill until the tripa is nice and cruchy or soft depeding on your preference. This is a great appetizer for the goat to follow which is prepared in many different ways.

Senegal

I think you definitely should visit Senegal. It is a bizarre food/ world capital. It would be your best show so far. I am an American citizen originally from Senegal. I am also working on a Senegalese cookbook. I think it would be great to discover the, Pink Lake (the water is literally pink and it is the only lake of its kind in the entire world), the shell cemetery located in the shell village (Joal) famous clam harvesting. I would like to be your guide. I was born and raised there, but have been in the U.S. for more than 15 years.

jasmine

we really enjoyed the show with Jasmine the contest winner.......will she be back? maybe regular guest sidekick..... ;)

Look alike Dares

Hi Andrew , I have often been told I look like you --especially from people at work and others when I go to hockey games. Most of what I or others who have seen your show would find some of the dishes quite challanging. For a show idea , why not bring on people who may look like you as a side kick and dare them to try the challanging dishes !!

BF in Peru !!!!

Andrew:Anything I could write in this email it's small for the great gratitude for your show, your character and the way you treat other cultures, Every time I saw the show, is like I traveled with your crew to all those magnificent countries and meeting all those amazing people.I'm also a big believer to travel trough food, and trying to do, eat and drink what other people dose every time I travel. I could say that you have bacome at the same lever of Mike Row in Dirty Jobs in the respect you give to the different people, its culture through you experience and how you appreciate the values of all this people. I can say that you are the best example of Universal Man, the union of cultures in on single person. I admire you for that.Something my girlfriend and I make us see all this, and in some way make us smile, is that knowing you Jew background, and the Zero tolerance Judaism has with Pork Meat, you passion, love and enthusiasm for all kind of pork over run all that, itss amazing. I think the we should be able to brake some of our cultural restrictions to be able to fully enjoy the perceptions of others. It always makes us smile. Also, something funny, after seeing most of your shows, and your love for eating Testicles, mainly CRIADILLAS, for the firs time we saw them here in Miami in a typical Cuban market store. We have been living in here for more that 22 years and we had never been there and never saw them in real life. It was too funny. I hope in your future shows you have a real chance to travel to Peru. You might need a couple shows in there, being Peru the most complex and with more variety of food, dishes and drinks in all Latin America, and may be from the whole world. I could say it over pass Mexico and competes with China in variations of dishes. In Peru you can get the full of our 3 regions. Coast, Highlands and the Amazon, with the most bizarre, and hard to take food you can ever imagine. If your experience with Chilean Seafood was incredible, you will die of ecstasies in Peru. Also, our cultural mix is so large and complex, that is reflected in our food. Our food is what it really give us our identity, it makes us Peruvians. No other things united us more as a Nation like or food. And after many years of racial, social and economical differences, is the strongest bond ever. You will not be able to forget that Experience of Peruvian Cuisine.I hope one day you go there, It will give us the pride we need so much as a Nation. Thank you for the job your are doing. You are making a difference.Yago and Pao

Errors in shows

Andrew, I see misspellings in the text graphics in your shows. I was just wondering, with so many people on the staff and all the things that have to be done to get a finished show in the can, how can so many people miss these misspelled words? The most recent one was the Samoa show tonight. There was a female and the graphics called her an "enviromental scientist". It's very unprofessional but sadly, is commonplace these days with widespread illiteracy running rampant.

Indiana, Middle of Nowhere, Great Food

Dear Andrew, I am a follower of your shows, as are most members of your site. Several of us generally get together to watch Bizzare Food or Bizzare World and to generally chat about some of the stuff we have tried that you are showing. None of us are great world travelers or anything, however, we have all had our times abroad for one reason or another and have delighted in trying local quisines (sic). Indianapolis is not known for a huge bizzare food selection, but the numbers of different traditional food restaraunts around town is incredible, and the food is fantastic. A friend and I recently spent three evenings in a row at one particular spot on the westside, with three restaraunts side by side, which offered three different worlds of food, all great. The first was Ethiopian, with an assortment of goat, lentils, and other out of the ordinary items, all made in a traditional way, served on large family platters, with assorted flat breads. You basically tear a piece of bread and grab a bit of this or that with it, and eat it, all with your fingers. The second is a Midwestern Coastal Mexican restaraunt (El Sol Azteca), also traditional, fabulous food. The third a traditional Peruvian restaraunt (Machu Picchu), also traditional, with various seafood (shrimp, squid, octopus, mussels) and chicken dishes. The Arroz Chaufa Misto and the Tallarin Saltado de Mariscos are both fantastic, as well as everything else we have eaten their. Please excuse the poor quality of this exerpt, as I am not a writer or food critic, but just love exotic and bizzare food. If ever you have the time and/or the inclination to try some different areas, we would love to have you come here to Indiana and try some out. These three restaraunts I mentioned are only a tiny sampling, as we have a very large assorted ethnic population here, and great food and restaraunts representing each and every one of them. We will continue to watch and support your shows, thank you so very much for them. Hope to see you in the northern midwest sometime.

Shows using kids

I would like to see you taking children and/or teens on a bizzare food eating challenge. My 14 year old daughter would jump at a challenge like that.. She loves to try the most bizzarre thing on the menue, when we go out. She once ate one of everything in a All you can eat sushi restaurant, just to say she had done it.

kids

Very interesting idea. I agree with this person, would be great to see kids getting to try some of these worldy foods that most people simply turn up their noses at, without so much as trying anything even close to it. Would also love to see something like this, say 2 or 3 children or young people at a time, preferably ones who have not had the opportunity to try anything like the foods on Andrews shows. Some obviously would flat out refuse, as society has been pounding into their heads that many things just aren't edible, but many would jump at trying out new things. Good idea.

Italy

Why u dont show bizzare food here in my country. I live in north east, here u can find cheese maturized with wine (drank-cheese), piadina that is a kind of bread u can eat sweet or salade with almost everything, cakes with the blood of pig, and a lot of wonderful things..........come here and u will be pleased. Sorry for my bad english

Bizarre in Canada & possibly more Minnesota?

I've been waiting for you to do a "Bizarre" episode set in Canada. Also, you may be interested in some of the food I prepare on a regular basis. Among these: Painted Turtle Soup, Stinging Nettle Lasagna, various wild salads, several Black Bear recipes (my fav. meat), Shaggy Parasol Spaghetti & many other Wild Mushroom recipes (I have been harvesting wild mushrooms since I was 4 yrs old. In fact, I have through cautious experimentation, poisoned myself 12 times!) Aside from Black Bear, I consider myself an expert on the preparations (cooking & butchering) of the following wild meats: Snapping Turtle, Elk, Venison, Raccoon, Squirrel, Pronghorn & Carp. Some of the more unusual Jellies & Preserves/Jams I prepare are Wood Violet Jelly, Sumac Jelly, Rose Hip/Maple Butter, Wild Grape Butter & Chokeberry Jelly. Also popular in my area (Mankato/Nicollet, MN)is something called Gretzwurtz. It's very similar to blood sausage & liverwurst except without the casing. It is generally fried & spread on toast. 2 local meat markets prepare this but I know of it from nowhere else. Also, check out my eBay store where I sell some of my wild goodies: stores.ebay.com/woodland-harvest    All the best, Alan Matthew Selby-Spear

Elkland, MO

My wife grew up in the rural town of Elkland, MO which is close to the Queen City of the Ozarks, Springfield, MO. Springfield has a number of restaurants, some are pretty good, most have a very small world viewpoint. Here in Springfield you can find such fascinating opportunities to eat a very cultural meal, like Mexican Villa... you might try the burrito enchilada style slathered in red sauce. However here in Springfield you can also find the birthplace of cashew chicken... the non-Chinese, Chinese food most popular. I am sure you could find something amazing, given your ability to draw out the weird and bizarre. However in Elkland, MO... the 4-H club does have the annual Wild-Game dinner, which she refers to occasionally. She would say that the barbecued raccoon is to die for.Who knows, but the Ozarks could be an interesting place to visit.:)

Hey Andrew try Tucson

Andrew, I have been going to a little - out of the way Taco and Burrito place in South Tucson that serves Carne Asada, Pastor, Barbacoa, Cabeza, Lingua, Head, Tripe, etc,,,, Tacos. They were cooking Testes on the grill the other day. I did not have the "balls" to try them. The place is called Taco APSON named after a Mexican Rock Band from Agua Prieta SONora (APSON). I originally tried to go down the menu list and try everything but stopped at the Pastor - which is a delicious spiced Grilled Pork. This spot probably would not fill up a show but may be a good fill in. If you come to Tucson you have to also try a sonoran style Mexican Hot dog. The Hot dog is Bacon Wrapped in a soft bun with beans, mayonaise mustard tomatos, and grilled Onions - Yum.

travel to puerto rico

Greeting, I 'll like to participate in your next trip to Puerto Rico. I have a web site that you can find the creole or authentic food of this Island. send me a email or just go to chinchorrospr. com take care

EGYPT

Egypt is already an exotic place, so why not go there for some exotic bizarre food? The market place in Cairo, Egypt is one of the largest market places in the world and I'm betting that the food stalls have some interesting foods. You can eat bizarre food while looking at the amazing pyramids. Egypt is the melting pot of Northern Africa, with influences from the Romans, Jews, Greeks, Italians, Chinese, and most of all Africans. Egypt has hundreds of different types of Spices ranging from Saffron and Curries.

Pennsylvania Dutch

Is it bizzare or not? Why haven't you tried this, Andrew, cheap and in your own USA. Bizzare maybe or not. How about Schnitz Un Kepp, "Boova Shenkel"(boy's legs), Potted Meat, just to name a few. Pennsylvania Dutch is a whole different world of food and sites in our own back yard. No I don't live there anymore, now in NC, but I found an old cook book of my grandmothers and I watch your show all the time and would like you to consider this area in a future show. Also posted to see if any of your other fans know about the PA Dutch.

Switzerland

I' ve seen every episode of bizarre foods (and worlds) and you never visited Switzerland. I know that you would like it, there is a lot of bizarre stuff, and we still eat every part of our animals. We have also some animals in the mountains that i think you have never eaten before. We would like to invite you to visit our country and share a meal together!

Portland

I haven't seen every episode of Bizarre Foods, so you may have done this already. Come to Portland and check out our food cart scene. It's not necessarily bizarre (no carts serve tree worms) but the eclectic variety and deliciousness is quite unique. I would particularly recommend you feature a cart called Brunch Box, where you can sample some truly bizarre burgers: the ICanHazCheesburger, which is a regular cheeseburger with two grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun; the OMG Burger, which is a burger with cheese, egg, ham, spam, and bacon; and the Redonkadonk, which is an OMG Burger with two grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun. We also have a belgian fry cart with the best poutine this side of wherever they eat that stuff. I'd be happy to act as tour guide. :-)

idea from MONGOLIA

LaughingHello, i'm from Mongolia. It's small developing country lies between China and Russia with population of over two million. Here you can try some bizarre foods such as groundhog meat, horse meat and various of dairy products you have never tried

Maybe not so bizarre, but great food anyways!

Good Day, Maybe not so 'bizarre", but great places to eat. If in Hong Kong check out Lama Island. Ask about the pigeon restaurant on the South side of the island. (Hope it is still there.) The minced pigeon is devine. Spoon some into your lettuce leaf and add a dollop of plum sauce and you are in heaven. And the veiw is stunning! Then all the restaurants near the ferry dock named after famous hotels! One after another, after another... But great fresh seafood, some of which might be at least a little bizarre to Americans like cuttle fish and various shellfish or maybe a sea cucumber anyone? Some of the biggest Lazy Susans I have ever seen... So you can order a lot and still have it fit on the table! Or how about Singapore? Granted, I have not been back there in ten years after living there for four. Many food courts are indeed good, but may I suggest the Changi Village Hawkers Market. Several exsquisite food stalls. Granted it has been ten years since I have been there, however, I bet the "famous" stalls are still there. Check out the Nasi Lemak stall on the corner, you will know the one as there is almost always a line. Nasi Lemak is a large fried chicken wing on a bed of coconut rice topped with a fried egg with Ikan Bilis (dried sardines), rough cut red onion and cucumber on the sides. And INEXPENSIVE! Walk to the back of the market and look for the BBQ seafood stall. Excellent grilled cockels (in shell) or BBQ stingray with spicy sambal sauce drizzled with calamansi lime (an all time favorite of mine!). Or Indian Roti Pratta? Noodles, lamb meat pies, just so much wonderful food! You will be spinning to the point of diziness! You could spend days at this particular market, so many great dishes! And don't forget about great (non-alchoholic) drinks! Tea Oh, Fresh squeezed bamboo juice or Rose Milk which is bubble gum pink and tastes just like a rose (another of my favorites)! While in the Changi village area, I would highly suggest taking a bum boat ride over to Pulau Ubin. You will feel like you have stepped back in time near the dock area. Like Singapore used to be many decades ago. Feel free to ask the locals what they think is best, they won't steer you wrong as almost every Singaporean is a foodie at heart! Another GREAT restaurant I so loved is the Hill Top restaurant on Adam Road near the Pan Island Expressway. (Hope it is still there, probably is...) Probably the only people that know about it are those who live in the Hill Top Condos. Adam Road is a somewhat private road with only a few classic Black and White's (houses) from the Brittish era with the condos, a small (and I mean SMALL, smallest I have ever been to) bar and the restaurant. You can eat indoor or outdoors. Outdoors being better as you get the feel of being in a restauant in the middle of the jungle, hard to describe otherwise. It is worth it just for the wok fried green beans, making myself drool. If you are ever in West Michigan, we have a few great places to eat. The best IMHO, is the Wei Wei Palace. You quite literally feel as if you have walked into a fine restaurant in Hong Kong. VERY authentic, and frankly one of if not the best Chinese restaurant I have experienced in the US, no, really! Wonderful ducks and pork haning in the entrance window, an aquarium full of fish for you to choose from, great salt and pepper prawns done in Southern Chinese Tempura, and don't forget authentic Dim Sum lunches! When done go shopping in the grocery store, again, feel like you are some where like Hong Kong! Then there is this little unassuming white brick Taco stand on the South West side of town. The best tacos I have ever had, period! Ground and pulled beef with home made salsa/sauce. cilantro and soft taco... sooo good! And like any good sized metropolitain area, we too have dueling restaurants. Whose is the best? In this case, it is hot dogs. Which is better, the hot dogs from Yesterdog or the Corner Bar? And yes, we actually have a pretty good BBQ restaurant too. Sandman's. Their ribs are very good, but I suggest the BBQ chicken! Lastly, something you might not expect... Islands off the coast of Fort Myers, Fla. Sanibel, Captiva and Cabage Key. Not so bizarre, but really good! First the Pink Flamingo on the very Northern tip of Sanibel (they have another location on the Southern end, but seeing as we usually stay on Captiva...). Great local dishes! I highly recomend the conch fritters, shelfish steam pot (lots of celery), and stone crab claws when in season. Further North "downtown" Captiva has several wonderful restaurants, that surprisingly are not that expensive considering the location. First, the Bubble Room, decent entrees, but it is the cakes and wacky decor that make this place special. Then there is the Mucky Duck. Very good menu, but it is the sunsets on the beach that might be the real draw. How good, my wife and I had our pre-wedding dinner there with all our guests, and they loved it. Lastly... the Key Lime Bistro (they catered our reception). My wife's favorite place for breakfast when on Captiva. Six types of Eggs Benedict including with smoked salmon. The best though, their award winning Key Lime Pie! Simply the best you will ever have. And the last place on the list, hop aboard the Lady Chadwick (Of Captiva Cruises) and take the day cruise to Cabbage Key and the famous Tarpon Lodge. Why is it famous, well first, a local classic, the wall covered with dollar bills and famous as the restaurant that inspired Jimmy Buffet's "Cheese Burger in Paradise". Their Key lime Pie is good, but is more like a frozen custard than a Lemon Meringue texture. O.K., starting to get long in the tooth, but these are a few of my favorite places! Thanks for reading. Christopher
